Hi there, this is Johnny aka Cactus Blues, introducing myself. I’ve been a professional saxophone player, vocalist and composer for 44 years. Commencing my music career as a founding member of The Stargazers, who were signed by CBS and had chart success in the early 80s. From then I have played/recorded with some great acts e.g, Joboxers, The Big Town Playboys, David Bowie, Robert Plant, The James Tailor Quartet, Little Willy Littlefield, Darlene Love, Otis Grand, Slim Gaillard, The Jive Romeros, Franky Ford, Jackson Sloan.

    West End credits include; ‘Good Rockin Tonight, Elvis, The Drowned Man and Be Bop A Lula.

I formed the Acid Jazz group Heavyshift with Will South and had worldwide success with Three albums one charting on American Billboard. Also forming the swing band The Hep Chaps with David Howarth to wide acclaim in the UK and Europe with 4 albums and many live performances.
